That's right, another virus self installed on my desktop.
Last night, a stupid malware forced its way through my computer and self installed on my computer. This isn’t the first time, but it was some weak garbage the last time it happened. This time, the malware deleted my Malware Bytes and disabled my antivirus. It even locked down my task manager so I wasn’t able to end the program. It was a very serious thing. Luckily I had my laptop and was able to research the damn thing. The name of the malware is called “Security Tools.” It is a genius name to dub a virus because the name is so generic; the search results don’t come up as solutions to a virus. After spending two hours past my usual bedtime, I decided to leave it till today. “Security Tools” is a rogue antivirus program that says your computer is infected with fake viruses when in fact, it is the virus itself. It doesn’t allow you to do anything, can’t run any antivirus programs at all.
After using trusty Google, I found my answer. I went into safe mode and ran MSCONFIG to disable all the startup processes, so the annoying virus wouldn’t start on startup. Next, I ran REGEDIT and deleted the registry with the folder with the virus. Since Malware Bytes was still down, I tried to reinstall it. No such luck I’m afraid. Somehow the virus managed is programmed to auto delete the .EXE file of MBAM. I got around it by installing an updated version onto an USB drive and ran a scan and removed the virus. However, it was still messed up because when I rebooted, I still got error messages. Since “Security Tools” was gone, I can run my Avira, and so I ran a scan with that. After that, I still couldn’t install MBAM regularly. I installed Spybot Search and Destroy, and ran yet another scan. Finally, it got rid of everything. This was quite an annoying virus indeed.

Virus... Again

Yesterday my computer started to act up, Avira Antivirus picked up several detections of TR/Vundo.Gen and I hit delete for all of them. Of course, it didn't fix the problem. I looked up the trojan known as "Vundo" on wikipedia and it gave me some symptoms. They were very accurate.
1. Frequent pop ups that tell me I have a virus and advertisements to different anti virus programs.
2. Facebook was blocked, oh the horror!
3. Random letters of .dll programs were ran.
So after doing a crapload of research, I installed the full version of symantec antivirus (provided by my college for free). I scanned the stupid thing for two hours and it found nothing (when Avira clearly found the Vundo). I deem symantec AV useless.

Next I downloaded Malware Byte's Anti-Malware. It found 26 infections, all the various forms of Vundo and its various spawns of ashgjf.dll. After the program moved those infections, I no longer got any more pop ups (I continued to have pop ups after Avira deleted everything it can find).
Malware Byte's Anti-Malware is excellent.

Random stuff
There is some virus going around the internet, or more frightening, on AIM. A friend of mine had a funny status so I asked her; "Why not click on X's link?" According to her, a friend of her friend sent her a link and she pressed on it. Somehow the link was a virus that took control over her AIM (or AIM Screen name). Now a bot or whatever is sending out more links using her friend's account. Another friend of mine got the same thing and keeps sending me retarded links. Good thing I found out about it before I saw it.
Today I took the COMPASS Math placement test (again). I don't think they sent me the results of the test I took for the fall term. Well anyway, when I walked in and the proctor was a total douchebag. His attitude was disgusting... he gave everyone who walked in an attitude and talked down upon them. When this girl pressed something wrong on the computer the asshole yelled at her. He yelled at me for pressing the start button ROFL. That guy was probably some scum who got picked on in life all the time and now get some authoritative position and was abusing it. Sad guy. Anyway the test was pretty ironic because you would think there were a lot of people that were my age but no. There a bunch of 30-40 year olds taking the test. I guess people are still trying to get their degrees after their X number of years in community colleges.
