I wrote a 7 page essay on how much I hate SBU

Yeah that's right. I was so pissed off at the school I spent all day writing on how much I hate SBU. The research paper was quite subjective because I am gearing towards the bad things of the school, so don't expect to get both sides from me. But I really couldn't find too much good things about the school anyway.

things going my way?

Alright today I called them again and they told me I got in. Now I'm going to move all of my stuff out and that's the end of that!

Grades thus far:
1. Calc I - [A] - I did really good on the final and since half the class stopped attending the lectures, well it means a bigger curve for me.
2. ECO - [A] - I was .06 from an A and the professor was nice enough to lower the standards so I got the A. Once again, I got the A because the rest of the class were a bunch of incompetent people who didnt do so well in class. The curve was insane...
3. WRT - [A-] - I dont want to talk about this class.
4. PSY - unknown yet

thinking about what to do

As you may know (or not), I am disgusted by SBU. Thats why I decided to transfer out of this place. There are a billion reasons why I dislike this place. Ok... not that many but enough to drive me outta here.

1. ghost town campus on weekends - everyone heads home on the weekends, leaving the campus empty and dead

2. expensive rip off food - $1 for one banana (or any other piece* of fruit), salad is 44CENTS PER OUNCE ffs the plate is an ounce already. honestly, its impossible to eat healthy here. everything thats good for you is overpriced, and everything thats bad is also expensive (but less than the healthy stuff, ex; 5$ burgers). i have to limit myself to 13$ a day in order to not right out of meal points. i see white people spend like $20 on lunch. these long island people are crazy ... it's like money grows out of their trees or something

3. incompetence everywhere - all of my classes, are full of retards. ffs... half the people dont go to class. the professors dont give a shit about us. all of my classes are a joke, except math. i dont even have to show up with my books to psy and eco because the lectures are utterly useless. ive lost my motivation to do well because i dont even have to work hard to do well in class. the curve in my eco class is ridiculous because everyone is so stupid. it amazes me that only 12 people go to a class out of 100. thats how bad this school is. everyone comes here to party/do drugs/get high/get drunk/have sex. for those of us who dont, its just boring and eh

4. tripling - i dont know why they didnt pair me up with RC and WM like i requested. they threw me in with two random people into the 24 hour quiet building. the ironic thing is, the suite im in is anything but quiet. all the upperclassmen pick this building so that they are in the same building and can hang out. my suite is loud as hell because the guys play loud ass music next door in like 12-3 am. im in a god damn triple. a room designed for two people, they add a bunk bed and make it so we have to share everything in the room. im bottom bunk, but i have to share the damn desk. the room is small as hell, and i hate tripling up.

5. sleep pattern destroyed - i used to sleep early because thats how i was raised. my roommates go out partying until 3-5 am. they come back and make alot of noise and with my insomnia i lose a lot of sleep. sometimes they come back at 1 and i havent fallen asleep yet. then im screwed and stay awake until 4 am because they sleep at 4am in the morning. i have class at 8 so i get like 4 hours of sleep. its ridiculous

6. school spirit is low - everyone does their own thing, u hardly see anyone talk to one another. i came here with a bunch of friends. i didnt meet many new people. maybe its because since i already had my own clique that i didnt go out to meet new friends. but the fact of the matter is, its not very involved on campus. its lame. motivation struck an all time low.

7. paying way too much to self learn - why am i paying 6k per year to learn retarded shit myself? the professor is useless, the school is garbage, why am i paying them to LEARN THE MATERIAL MYSELF?

I honestly cant see myself staying here for 4 years. Even though the tripling thing is temporary, I simply dislike this environment too much to stay here.

However, CUNY fucked up my application. I still have to wait three weeks until they send their decision out. The service hotline is terrible. i call the 800 number and it gives me a busy tone. EVERYTIME. i emailed them like 4 weeks ago and they just got back to me last week. look at that delay time. im afraid that i'll have to stay here another term. that's just torture...

Right now

VBQ 2-1 KCF
WHATSUP 2-0 BIOCURIOUS
BIOCURIOS 2-0 KCF
WHATSUP 2-0 VBQ

1 WHATSUP 4-0
2 BIOCURIOUS 2-2
3 VBQ 2-3
4 KCF 1-4

So if we want to make the playoffs, we must win the next game no matter what.

Life right now seems really meaningless. It's the same stuff that goes on everyday, it's a really pointless ritual. People here are pretty stupid, half of my classes are empty and the environment really takes any motivation away from you. I really need to get back on track.

VB Intramurals

I made our own volleyball team for intramurals. Our first game will be on 11/10 vs KCF (Korean Christian Fellowship).

According to Roger and DYan, Koreans are mad good and all they do is play volleyball and bowling.

Im really looking forward to some decent games. Too bad our playing time is only limited to three games this semester (unless we make the playoffs)

progress

So a lot of things happened that made us (my group) dislike Stony Brook more by the day. My friend got screwed over by the Writing department which deemed him unworthy of WRT 102 (the highest level writing course) even though the rules clearly stated that a combined score of 1200 or higher on the Reading+Writing part guarantees a spot in 102 class. Whats even worse is that he is thrown into the ESL class, which is for people who just arrived to this country, which he clearly isn't. So the whole situation is a losing battle because he is powerless against the contradicting system, which pretty much says that since he put chinese as his first language, he is ESL, yet he is also WRT 102 status due to his SAT score.

The other part is how much I utterly hate this place. I hate this place. I'm not going to get into why or how it sucks, you can catch that on my other document.

Progress on the document: Part I finished (54 pages)
Part II is on hold because I lost motivation to start the thing.

Lucid Dream and progress

I've read about Lucid Dreaming like a year back on WCReplays.com. I was intrigued by the topic but never really tried to learn the skill.

A lucid dream is a dream in which the person is aware that he or she is dreaming while the dream is in progress, also known as a conscious dream.

Since the person is aware of this, the person can actually control what happens during the lucid dream. There are no limits or boundaries for people who can lucid dream. They can fly, they can jump on buildings, dodge bullets, literally do anything they want in the movies.

Some people can naturally do this. Luckily for the rest of us, it can be learned.

Steps to lucid dreaming:
1. do reality checks
2. try to remember dreams
3. pursue lucid dreaming

College Life in a short

College life; Not too quite happy about how things are right now.

School work: I am not applying myself anymore, Im paying way too much money to go here and I should really shape up, instead of having so much fun doing this and that.

Living without parents: has its ups/downs.

I did get myself involved in a new sport: ping pong.

How I am feeling thus far

You know what, some people are just not sociable. I tried to do everything I can to preserve our friendship but it just isn't happening. It's like I'm extending my hand out but I can't reach the other person because they aren't extending out their hand. I give up. I don't give a shit anymore. I'm tired of wasting my time on people who I shouldn't be investing time on.

Secondly, I'm sad that summer's almost over. I just don't like the fact that I'll probably not see them / or even talk to them for a very long time.

Sunday (today) was awful. We were gonna play BTech today in a competitive volleyball game. However, everything seemed to go wrong today. First of all, only 5 of our 12 that we planned to play showed up. Second, we had the biggest argument with a bunch of faggots. These fucking Mexicans play in central park every weekend. I knew that was going to happen so we showed up very early and got the court. At around 12 or so more of the douchebags showed up. They started to give us lip and kept asking for the score and called for next game. We were extremely pissed. First of all, who the fuck did they think they were? The old whiney bastard was shit talking us. He claimed “We ALWAYS play here so this court is OURS”.

Total fucking bullshit. It’s a fucking public court, first come first serve. You don’t fucking come in later and expect other people to get the fuck off just because you want to play just because you always play here. No, fuck no. We had the court and we were playing. But they kept giving us fucking glares and mocked us/laughed at us. Some fucking adults they were… And clearly you can see that they were picking on us because we were younger. The right court was occupied too, but they didn’t bother with them. Those assholes HAD to get OUR fucking court. I was so fucking pissed off because they kept disrespecting us. After we got off I didn’t see them keep score or anything. They just got on and never got off.

more film opinions

This past week we were doing our final projects. All the groups had to do Preproduction work, casting, and script revision. I learned a lot these past few days. For one thing, fixing the script was pretty tough. The writer put in some stuff for us that were very difficult to shoot. How were we going to capture footage of an explosion and dead bodies? That didn’t quite work out… and it looked really poorly constructed today. Casting for real actors was something I got a lot out of. The acting career is really sad, IMO. People do it for free. Our TA went on NYCASTING.COM and put our project up for grabs. We had like 20 people sign up for auditions for each main role. We called up people who we thought would fit the role the best. I would call this process conning someone. You see, when the producer calls up the actor, they have to give them the details of the film and things like that. Ivan did a lot of small talks and he’s so sly about it. He told the actor that his role was going to be on screen for 70% of the time when in reality, their role is not that important and only on screen for maybe 30% of the time. The thing is, once you get them to agree to come and do it, they can’t back out of it. What are they going to say after they show up? “No I won’t do it?” It’s just good tactic to use. Another trick is to use reverse psychology on them. When an actor is uncertain on whether or not go play the role, the producer can say: “We chose you because we felt that you would be the best candidate for this role. If you don’t want to take the position, we have plenty of other talented people waiting on queue.” Saying something like that really nails them on the head and strikes their ego.

The acting career is a tough road for those who pursue it. Like Irving said, many talented actors never even get to make a living out of acting simply because it has so much to do with luck. A lot of the actors really have little opportunity to shine on camera. They do little skits and things like that, hoping to build a nice reputation/connection/resume. This career has such a heavy reliance on luck, it’s scary. It’s just a matter of being in the right place in the right time. For example, Pamela Anderson. She was in a football game when the camera pammed across her. The crowd went nuts and wanted the cameraman to go back to her. Instantly, she attracted attention and got a contract on the spot (in a football game for god sake). I kind of feel sorry for these people, like those who came to shoot today. The guy is around 40 and the woman is around 40. They still haven’t hit it big and they have already lived half their life away.

very grim stuff on the news

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/07/31/canada.bus/index.html

to sum it all up, a teenager was sleeping on the bus was stabbed to death by someone who was sitting next to him. the kid had no chance at all, got stabbed roughly 50 times while the rest of the passengers looked and did absolutely nothing. they all got off the bus like little wussies and didnt try to help the kid who got stabbed. the crazy guy then bheaded the kid and ate his flesh.

this reminds me of the Kitty Genovese syndrome [bystander effect]

the kid might as well have been murdered in the sahara desert ... since no one helped him

Some thoughts

College; a time where all the students have contacts and straight teeth.

I, on the other hand, will have neither.

I think I'm going to get braces to fix my bruxism and eventually I plan on getting Lasic surgery.

Week 2 of SYEP

7/10/08 – This week’s workdays are finally over. Here’s the recap:

Thursday – [day 4] today was pretty boring. We listened to this Australian guy talk about sound. He was extremely dull and his monotone voice almost put me to sleep. I didn’t pay much attention to him. Afterwards, we went to 42nd St to some film center. I forgot the name of it so whatever.

Wednesday – [day 3] the assignment due for Wednesday was a storyboard. It was basically to draw out your commercial idea onto a piece of paper in different strips, like a comic. They hired this professional DP (director producer?) to speak to us about lighting. He showed us how lighting can affect the scene and also how to use light. He specializes in creating/using light in low budget movies. He showed us a lot of techniques and gadgets like reflectors and filters.

After the lecture, we went to Broadway. We saw “Passing Strange” on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. It was a musical about a young teenager who was rebellious and wanted to find himself (as in what he wanted to do in life). He left home, against his mother’s wishes, and moved to Europe. He pursued a career in music, exploring a wide variety of music as he traveled throughout Europe. As he meets different people, he learns the true meaning of love and life and decides to go home after many years. However, he discovers his mother passed away already. The play was very loud and at one point I thought my eardrums were going to pop. Everyone thought the play was great. I didn’t really think it was THAT great… because I didn’t really understand the plot. They also cursed way too much for a Broadway show. They must have said FUCK about 20+ times. The play went from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM with a short intermission at 9:15. I got home at like 11:30 PM. I was so tired.

Tuesday – [day 2] the homework for Tuesday was to come up with 3 ideas for a 30 second commercial that is without dialog. So on Tuesday, everybody took turns presenting their 3 ideas. The class would then discuss and critique the idea. Some of their ideas were really good, and some weren’t. I could see some of the kids really spent time and effort into their ideas. The class voted out of the 3 ideas and picked one they would like to see.

NYU internship

Today was the first day of work at NYU. It’s the first time that I’ve been to the campus. You can get there by going to West 4th St by the B train. The campus is huge. I was extremely nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. I finally found the place where I was supposed to show up after exploring the area and it was Steinhardt, the school of art and communications. The college students there greeted me and called me “the intern”. I was sort of surprised because I was the only person working there from SYEP. They all thought I was some sort of extraordinary person who got an internship. When I told them I came from SYEP, they didn’t know what it was. Oh well, more power to me. The schedule sucks though. I was told I go from 12-4 PM but it’s actually 1-5 PM. That means no lunch break and I get home around 6.

There is 1 professor and 5 college aids and one other guy named George who operates the cameras. The students are composed of 15 people. Half of them are foreign exchange students from the Dominican Republic. The other half are incoming freshmen of NYU Tisch. I seriously did not know they were freshmen. They all looked older than I am but they weren’t. The DR guys were all older than I was. One thing that really bothered me was that they all spoke Spanish frequently. The student aids all spoke fluent Spanish. So all of them communicated with ease and I didn’t know what the hell they were talking about.

The class is held in the 5th floor. Today we learned how to operate a video camera. It isn’t a digital camera recorder, but the actual big video cameras that you see on the news. They taught us how to set up the tripod and how to white balance. I never knew that zooming in and out took so much skill because when I was doing it, it went either way to fast or out of focus really quickly. After that, we broke into groups and had to film interviews with each other. The assignment was to ask questions so we can get to know each other. After all the groups were done, we watched it. It was quite interesting because there were a lot of things I’ve never bothered to notice/appreciate that the professor pointed out during the presentations. Little things like lighting, camera angles, zooming in, zooming out, and location choices are all subtle things that the viewers tend to miss. It was pretty interesting.

The down side of this whole thing is I only get 16 hours of work per week. That’s Monday to Thursday, 4 hours per day. That’s horrible, it’s approximately gross $114 per week.

KooL-Aid contest

Yesterday: we held a Kool-Aid drinking contest at Central Park. It was hosted by Andrew and Sam (from Stuyvesant). The contest was based on how many cups of Kool-Aid we can drink in one minute. Everyone thought it was going to be mad easy but the thing is, it wasn’t.

Ricky – He went first and sped through 5 cups of grape juice. After his 6th cup, he couldn’t take it anymore. Then he tossed it.
Qi – I went second because I was dying of thirst from playing volleyball. I took my time drinking the juice and holy crap by the time I finished my 5th one, I was bloated. I just quit after that because I didn’t want to lose my lunch.
Richard – He got so mad because he drank like 8 cups and threw up so they only counted 6.
Lanson – This guy was the funniest. He drank like 8 and then he lost it ALL. It was like a waterfall. He kept puking until he was empty. I think someone caught it on camera, I hope someone uploads.
The rest – I didn’t bother with the rest.
Andrew – The new champion, leading the pack with 9 cups and not throwing any of it up. Well done my man.

Volleyball was extremely fun that day. We were playing gym volleyball until we started the contest. Then a couple of skilled people took the court and we were playing vs. them with our best people. It was 5 vs. 5 and we were pretty close with point to point. We won by like 3 points with ME blocking this Asian guy on their team. After the contest I proceeded to play with them while everyone else was occupied doing something else. It was great practice and today my entire body is sore.

end of high school

So this is the end of our high school career. 4 years passed by pretty fast.

These four years were life changing. I think I've grown both mentally and physically, for the better.
I've learned so much and I'm ready for college.

It's a shame that we are leaving this year because we will never get to use the Annex. Furthermore, budget cuts have hit hard for next year. There will only be 7 periods of classes, as opposed to 8. Electives will be cut, and Physics C will shut down.

Sepak Takraw

I was searching for flip tutorials on youtube when I stumbled across something very dazzling. Im a huge volleyball fan but this is something better. It is the combination of both volleyball and soccer. It's called Sepak Takraw. It is a Thai sport.

The most captivating part of this is the "Roll Spike". Hell I want to be able to do that successfully.

Also, this guy >>>> Jet Li + Jackie Chan combined

Tony Jaa is the next big thing!

Crazy Anime Review

___

Okay so I finished watching this anime series on Crunchyroll, its called 'School Days'.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/showseries?id=5061

This series is seriously a slap in the face. I thought it would be a cute romance series but damn I was fucking wrong. The story began very nicely but the ending is fucking demented.

I dont recommend watching it because its really fucked up.

However, it is a good storyline, even though its seriously fucked up.

With that being said, watch it at your own caution. I wont spoil the ending for you guys if you decide to watch it.

_______ SPOILERS _________

One word: "epic." School Days TV is the anime series that is going to be talked about for years to come. This is anime history being made right here and now. What had many people believing this would be a touching romantic story has turned into a heavily emotional drama that not only has affected the characters, but the audience as well. With the final episode having been threatened by network censors after a stunning real-life event in Japan, anime fans across the world waited with bated breath to witness what would be the final moments in the most gripping story to come out of Japan this side of the millennium. These are School Days.

OVERALL: 97/100... there is a strong message to be delivered through this anime. People who are afraid of life getting too real should be the ones to sit down and pay attention to what's trying to be said in this story. For anyone who's ever said "that can never happen to me" or "I'm not like that" or even to those who go through life doing whatever they please without considering how their actions affect others, this anime was made for you. Never before have I witnessed such a powerful reaction from a fanbase in regards to the fate of a story and the characters involved. I, for one, am satisfied with the results and the justice that may or may not have been served. A tragic ending for all involved which evokes strong emotions from anyone willing to bare witness. No cheesy cop-outs or save-endings in order to fill the viewer with a sense of "everything will be alright in the end." Nope, sorry, this is reality. Reality has consequences.
