The Evolution of Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is changing. Up until the last year's MVP speech, Durant was the face of the NBA. Kevin Durant, the ultimate good guy. A person of utmost humility and respect. He not only is the best player around, he is not arrogant nor does he smack talk others. His brand and image oozed of niceness and I would have never thought he would change into this new persona. For gods sake, Durant is the epitome of a nice guy. What's happening to Kevin Durant is not only interesting, it's completely unexpected and fun to watch. Here is a recollection of events I found in chronological order:

Nov 2014
Kevin Durant calling Dwight Howard a pussy. At first I surprised because that's not very KD-like. But I gave him a pass since it seems to be a meme for everyone to call Dwight a pussy.

Feb 2015
Kevin Durant shows us his new attitude.

Here is KD taunting Chris Paul telling him "you're still down 20 points homie."

Here is KD flexing his ego by saying "I'm a bad motherfucker."

And here we have KD raging, and committing a flagrant 1 foul.

And here is some fresh beef on social media:

This is hilarious! KD is known to be supportive of both his teammates and his coach. It's not uncommon these days for high profile folks to start shit on Twitter, but KD!?

Here's the latest crapshoot: KD finally breaks down his facade and shows us a glimpse of his true self. To quote:

"You guys really don’t know shit. To be honest, man, I’m only here talking to y’all because I have to. So I really don’t care. Y’all not my friends. You’re going to write what you want to write. You’re going to love us one day and hate us the next. That’s a part of it. So I just learn how to deal with y’all. My first few years in the league, I was just finding myself. I think most of the time, I reacted based off of what everybody else wanted and how they viewed me as a person. I am just learning to be myself, not worrying about what everybody else says, I am going to make mistakes. I just want to show kids out here that athletes, entertainers, whoever, so-called celebrities, we aren't robots. We go through emotions and go through feelings and I am just trying to express mine and try to help people along the way. I am not going to sit here and tell you that I am just this guy that is programmed to say the right stuff all the time and politically correct answers. I am done with that. I am just trying to be me and continue to grow as a man." - Kevin Durant to the media

Conclusion
What does this all mean? Kevin Durant is done being a nice guy. For the first part of his career he was a nice guy, and I think he was spoon fed by his marketing team to be a politically correct, restrained, and nice individual. But what he just told us right now is that he is fed up being someone he's not. I applaud you Kevin Durant. Stand up for yourself. You aren't fooling anyone with your facade. Break down this mister nice guy that your agents created for you. Learn from Westbrook my friend, he executes. I mean sure, you won't be liked by everybody anymore, but who cares about that? Look at Kobe Bryant, people love him and people hate him. But if you're well liked by all, you will be loved by none. I think it's ten times more memorable for us if Kevin Durant was a badass rather than some pushover who never did anything. I think as the season progresses, we'll see more and more of the new KD. No one wants to see a boring, bland, nice guy. Cheers to the new, edgy Kevin Durant.

LoveFlutter's Paper Bag Speed Dating Event in NYC

It has been a couple of weeks since the paper bag event. I’ve done some more digging around the internet and there’s a ton of articles (to no one’s surprise) about the event. I read these articles written by female participants with disgust. The guys at the event had already figured it out: 90% of the female participants were from the media. I stupidly didn’t realize it until L told me after the event. Some of these articles written by these women really pissed me off. Each of them say they went with an open mind but the way they write their interactions with the guys make their claims really phony. In fact, most of them treated the guys like they're inferior. Since they were there for the story, not to really bond with anyone, they were in interview mode. I felt like I wasted my time giving these people a chance when they judged us within 2 minutes and based on what? Most of the conversation sucked because the conversations were directed by what we put on our bags. The problem was that the women were bland and didn’t have anything interesting to say. When they took control of the conversation, it went to boring and dry places. And since most of them were interested in what we did for a living, where we lived, we didn’t even get to ask them what they did. Oh and they were brutally honest in their articles. One woman even said they felt bad after a while and started lying about their true occupation (news writer). What a complete joke. The guys there were all decent guys from what I could see. We put creativity and thought into our designs. It’s a joke how we were there to actually meet people when the other half of the participants were there to ridicule us. It’s no wonder these women are still single. More than half of the women left immediately after the de-bagging. They didn’t even stay to meet the guys because they didn’t come here to meet people. All of them were there for the scoop. You know what the real story for the event was? Female participants were all reporters looking for an article while all the male participants were there for finding someone. Maybe I'm a little bit bitter because the event was advertised to have a higher female to male ratio, maybe I'm mad because I paid $25 and didn't really get anything from it, but I think it's the fact that the guys got played that really annoyed me.

The video below (which is not me, but you can see a cameo of me) describes perfectly what went wrong with the event.

Japan - Country of Singles

I often wondered why Japan’s current culture fosters such hostility against relationships. When I was in Japan, it really hit me. You can read about how the marriage rates and birth rates are in massive decline in Japan in the news all you want, but it’s really something else to see it firsthand. During my stay in Japan, I rarely saw any children around. If I did, it was tourist children mostly. The other part is the lack of couples. We were out and about on Valentine’s Day, but we barely saw any couples holding hands. Japan is a country of singles. Just why does this happen exactly?

I’m no expert in the matter, but I can give some thoughts on why Japan is such a pitiful state. The first blame goes to the otaku culture. Anime, with all its intents and purposes, is ultimately part of the reason why men and women in Japan can’t get along. When anime shows feed ideas to the young population, good and bad constantly, expectations are set. In anime, male protagonists are always portrayed as being chased by a flock of girls. Does this happen in real life? No, it never does. When such high expectations are set in a young boys mind as they grow up, they become resentful when real life does not turn out the way they thought it would. In slice of life animes, the females are always the aggressors, the guys are being pursued. When does that ever happen in real life? What examples are they setting for the youngins? It is important to understand that what happens on TV is a fantasy. I just get the feeling that the young men who grow up embracing these ideas become disillusioned. What do they do to remedy this problem? Anime isn’t bad for you, as long as you know it is a form of entertainment, not a way of life. Unfortunately, a large part of the population does not understand this concept.

The solution to disillusionment is even worse than the problem itself. Otaku culture allows men to fulfill their sexual fantasies. That’s why you hear of strange stories about how guys want to marry their 2D girlfriends. Men are so afraid of rejection that they turn to dating SIMS, blow up dolls, maid cafes, and prostitution as substitutes. Believe me when I say this, because obtaining a substitution is far too easy in Japan. As for the females in Japan, most of them would rather be single than to date these boys in grown bodies. Essentially that is what a grown Japanese male is. We went to a figure convention and it amazed me how many grown balding men were there. What is a figure convention? They sell anime character toys. It felt like going to a hentai fair because most of the figures were suggestive. I wasn’t all that surprised by the demographic turnout. Would this ever happen in the states? Probably not. There is no stigmatism in Japanese culture. Since it is so widely accepted, no one cares. And that, my friends, is where the problem lies.

Another problem is the Japanese mentality. Failure is like the ultimate shame. That’s why you hear about so many suicide stories for kids who failed their entrance exams. The same faulty thinking occurs in dating. I read somewhere after a guy fails to court a female in Japan, they just stop trying altogether. They take rejection like it’s the end of everything. Granted, not everyone is like that, and this is the extreme, but the fear of rejection is so much more powerful overseas. In fact, this fear makes most guys just not try at all.

How I learn stuff

For my minor capstone, I decided to take monetary policy. The class itself is very poorly structured. The professor is an employee of AIG and for the first 6 classes, he was absent for half of them. Teaching at Baruch is a second job for him and there isn’t much to say about it. The textbook we are assigned is written for and by the British. This is because the only book that is updated for the current situation is this one. The way he teaches the class is very different from the rest of the school. Instead of using PowerPoint slides like every other lazy professor, he writes on the board and dictates the information. This old school type of teaching and in my opinion far more effective than the current trend. What do students do when the professor hands them the notes in class (in the form of PP slides)? They slack off, fail to pay attention, and reread the slides when midterms come along. PP slides are meant to be an aid to the lecture, not the notes. This type of teaching is far less effective than writing on the board.

Here’s why: When you are writing your own notes, a certain mental capacity and willpower is needed in order to follow the lecture. From my own personal perspective, learning is best done this way. It is the precise reason why I did so well in HS, back when all they did was write on the board. You see, when the professor writes on the board, he isn’t supposed to write everything down for you. What he writes down is part of the formula and the meaning behind the symbols you must listen and jot down for yourself. The problem with most students is that they are mindless drones that imitate what the professor writes down without properly absorbing the information the professor supplements the lecture with. So you wrote down the formula, when you look back, you have no idea what they represent. For me, I don’t simply copy, I create my own notes, due to my understanding of what is told to me. It’s similar to learning how to do something on a job; your boss shows you how to do it once. You must pay attention during the demonstration and make sure you have a crystal clear understanding or else you’ll forget. This is also why I am not a fan of getting notes from someone else. If you don’t understand what the person is writing, how can you study from someone else’s notes?

It’s quite a phenomenon in the class because no one is falling asleep during his lecture. No one dares fall asleep because if you do, you’ll miss out. This is why old school lecturing is so powerful. It keeps students on their toes and forces them to focus. Otherwise in the other scenario, they cut or fall asleep knowing the information is and will be made available to them on Blackboard. It hurts the student because the lack of care. When notes are given to me, I don’t even bother looking at them until the day before the exam. That is not learning, it is cramming. If I ever become a professor, I would definitely do a good job at teaching because I know how to break info down and the best way to deliver it.

unmotivated right now

Okay things are going downhill this summer. Not only does my current "job" suck, but my only source of entertainment is also dismantled now.

The Job:

Currently I am "interning" at MetLife. At first I got the job and thought I landed the jackpot. I didn't ask about the pay or anything because I didn't want to seem like money was all I cared about (on the first interview). However, I should have suspected something was wrong because the guy simply handed the job to me. He didn't ask me any questions on a normal interview, he simply told me the job description and asked for my availability. So what do I do these days? When I applied, it was supposed to be "analyze financial asset models" and other wordy descriptions. However, all I do is make cold calls. That's right, I'm a free telemarketer and my time and work is so meaningless, I receive no recognition and no money for it.

I hate my work because 99% of these calls are failures. About half of them go straight voicemail, a third of the phone lines are busy, and the rest are the rejections I receive. I've made some successful calls, but have I received any compensation for it? Nope. Where is my commission? Is my time really that meaningless? I'm not even properly registered onto the system and no one knows of my existence. Is this right? Why am I still there?

ME time (My Enjoyment)

The only things I look forward to each week, are two things. First, playing Heroes Of Newerth with my friends. Second, our weekly volleyball events on the weekend. Sure job sucks, but when I come home or when it's the weekend, I can at least enjoy myself and take a load of stress off. What's changed?

As a killer team of five players, our HoN team is entered into several tournaments. We've been on a roll and we have a very good streak going. One of the tournaments I feel we can make the finals. However, just when everything is looking smoothly, one of the five of us decides to go EMO on us and quit the game. For no reason. Not even a reason as to why he quit. This guy won't pick up the phone, won't respond to IMs, nothing. All of my hopes and ambition goes straight down the drain because the team is nothing unless we have all five of us. This absolutely is killing me.

Second, what happened to our weekly volleyball events at Central Park? I have no idea what's going on, but people aren't going anymore. Maybe I'm an extremely habitual guy and doesn't like the idea of change. I looked forward to meeting up with my friends every week and play some games at Central Park. Nowadays, whenever someone creates an event, hardly anyone responds. People always ask, who's going? Well maybe if you show up and then others will as well. But the thing is, no one is going anymore and it's a chain effect. Sadly, this is killing me as well. What is there to look forward to now?

End of English Class Thoughts

As you may or may not know, I had an epic English class this semester. To end the term, we read the Death of Ivan Ilych and saw the play Death of a Salesman. Now how is reading about death a good way to end the semester? These stories weren't so much about death, but rather about life.

Death of a Salesman is a tragedy, for it shows how a man in search of greatness only blinds himself to the truth, thus leads his household into turmoil. The salesman, Willy Loman, is 63 years old and a very unsuccessful salesman. Even though his salary is based solely on commission, he refuses to quit his job despite earning next to nothing. His whole life he dreamed about being a great salesman, to be respected and well liked. He taught his children all the wrong things--that they were magnificent and born that way. All of the lies that Willy fed his children only corrupted them as they grew older. It was no mistake that both his sons grew up to be worthless individuals.

Death of Ivan Ilych on the other hand, is about a man who has it all--money, status, family--yet the irony is he has very little in life. Ilych, hit with the harsh reality of terminal illness and chronic pains, starts to question his own life. Having lived a life of propriety, while his achievements and status rose to new heights, Ilych's life in fact was like a rock falling into abyss. All of his accomplishments meant nothing to him because his marriage was a mess. He cared for no one but himself, and thus no one sympathized for him during his illness. Surrounded by falsity, Ilych dies a miserable death, realizing he lived his life the wrong way. He lived a life deemed "correct" by the rest of society, not what the way he wanted to live. The people all around him, including his wife, are all selfish individuals who care only about moving up in the social ladder.

Both of these stories offer interesting lessons. One very important thing I've come across while thinking about both of these stories is the discussion on lies. Willy Loman reminds me that "a lie told often enough becomes truth." This is a very dangerous misconception that many people fail to realize. In fact, I've finally realized something about myself. All these years I have been lying to myself, believing in things that are not such. The truth hurts and that is why most people cannot face the truth. Denial is only a hindrance to self-improvement, and recognition of the problem is the first step.

Curves Hurt

Curves hurt...

So this girl with very nice curves tore my heart out and stuff. I wanted to get to know her but she simply walked away! No, nothing like that happened, honest! The curves I'm talking about are the ones given by different professors. First of all I would like to tell you how much I dislike curves.

The breakdown for my CIS class is 25% A's (including A and A-), 35% B, 35% C, 5% D-F. What the hell does this mean? Since there are 40 people in the class, that means only two people fail the course. What the shit man, what the shit? The lowest grade on the freaking midterm was two 35's, so that means if you even guessed half the damn test right you can pass the class with a C. Of course, people such as myself don't want to just "pass," we want to go above and beyond. Of course that isn't going to happen because only 10 people are going to get A's, and half of 10 are going to get A-'s. So it really hurts me in the long run to have a "curve" in this class because everything is based on how other people do. What if everyone got a 100 and I got a 95? That means I would fail because I'm on the bottom percentile, which makes no bloody sense.

I'd much rather they access you based on the traditional 93+=A, 90-93=A-, etc. As a matter of fact my accounting class is going to be yet another class with a bunch of curves. Only thing is, only 15% of the class will get A's. I'm wondering how this semester will turn out... will I break my combo of straight A's only the second semester in?!

Obligations

Social networks such as Facebook got me thinking. Why the hell do some people add people to friends list even though they never say a word to one another? I know this bitch from junior high school and she added me on FB a couple of months ago. I didn't want to accept, because I don't give a shit about her (she added me on Sconex before as well). When I accepted back the first time on Sconex, I asked how she was--the bitch never replied. This time I said hello again, she never replied. Honestly, why waste time to add me if you don't exchange a single word with me? Likewise, I have a ton of worthless "friends"--a ton of people whom I never even spoke to. I accepted most of them because I know who they are, I call them acquaintances. Another time, this bitch added me twice, I declined the first time, but she added me again. So the second time, I accepted to see what she would say. She said nothing.

Are most people stalkers? I don't think so. I believe they simply want to add people to increase their friend count. Oh hey look, I have 1000 friends! As if anyone gives a rat's ass about it.

Another thing that bothers me is birthday wishes. I saw this girl copy and paste the same message to three people who had the same birthdays. LoL. I think people who do these things are superficial and phony. They want the favor returned when time comes around. But guess what? Most people don't give a shit. It's your birthday, big whoop. This is why I removed my birthday so I don't get 30 spam messages of the same two words on one day. If you have something to say, why make an excuse to say it on that particular day?

Quality over quantity .

Facing discrimination

Today is one of the worst days of my life. Funny thing is that I never seem to post any happy related topics regarding my life--probably because there aren't too many. Today I will rant on the evils of bureaucracy and discrimination.

American bureaucracy is absolutely one of the most redundant creations to ever exist. The purpose of bureaucracy is to promote order and to maximize efficiency. It creates a set of strict rules for retards to follow--to never use common sense, to follow procedure no matter how trivial the matter is, to abide by stupid rules that waste time. Everything is so specialized to the extent that in order to find something, you will have to be redirected about 50 times before you find the right department to answer your question. Bureaucracy does not only waste my valuable time, but makes people robotic, unable to adapt to changes and problems that can be solved using common sense.

Secondly, today I had to go to an Oral Surgeon with my mom to get her wisdom tooth extracted. Getting there when it opened, about 20 people were ahead of us. I hate waiting, but bureaucracy as always, makes you wait. First the initial waiting, we waited for about an hour before the receptionist looked at our name on the list. After we were called, we had to fill a bunch of forms, then sat back down again to wait another hour for them to process it. After we were done waiting in room 1, we sat in room 2 to wait some more. After we were taken to the operation room, the doctor was no where to be seen, and we were instructed by the nurse to wait some more. This wasn't the first time I had to come to this dreadful place, the last time I was here I waited for six hours for the whole thing to be done.

Now the discrimination part. The stupid doctor wasn't taking his job seriously. While he was examining my mother's teeth, he was chatting with the nurse about sports cars or something related to his private life. I wanted to say something, but I refrained myself from making a statement. Next, when he was operating on the teeth, he was still yapping on about his personal life. My mom was really worried and made hand signals for them to stop whatever they were doing. The doctor and nurse put on their angry face. They were asking me what she was saying. She was telling me that they were operating on the WRONG tooth. So I told them of her concern--after all, doctors have made plenty of mistakes, here's an example of a retarded doctor severing a man's penis off.

The dentist, I should call the asshole a dentist, the fucking dentist, started snapping at me. He became really pissed off and starting cursing at us; "Are you fucking kidding me, that is absolutely the stupidest thing I've ever heard, this is bullshit, how can anyone be so ignorant," etc, etc. The dentist lost his temper and started to curse while operating, my heart pounded and did not know what to do or say. He bitterly cut the tooth and yanked at my mother's teeth with a crazy look on his face. I was terrified. He kept repeating the same shit over and over, saying that she insulted him by saying that he was doing the wrong thing. While operating, he kept saying he didn't want in on this case anymore and after he was done, he stormed out, slamming the tools on the table, showing that he was the boss.

This was the biggest sign of discrimination I've faced thus far in my life. How dare this sack of shit treat his patient like that? I'll bet my life on it that he would never have the audacity to raise his voice to a Caucasian, they would sue his sorry ass off. The fuck was his problem? He had no right to treat his patients like shit, shit talking his ass off knowing that my mother couldn't speak English... His crazed look made my heart sink, fearing that his temper would cause him to purposely pull the wrong tooth out...

After we left the dreadful place, my mom told me that she felt for sure they were operating on the wrong tooth. They were drilling and yanking on the upper tooth, while the X-Ray clearly indicated that the bottom one (#17) was the one to be removed. If she hadn't raised an objection, who knows what would've happened, it's not like you can put your tooth back on after it's out. For FUCKS sake, who is going to feel sorry for you after the operation is over? No fucking one. It's better to be safe than sorry, but taking so much shit from that dentist made me feel both anger and helplessness.

Japanese gice... srsly wtf

So during my stay in Stony Brook I've noticed some weird trends around the campus. I frequently saw some Asian gice wearing purses or "manbags". I found that pretty disturbing because it looks disgusting and I immediately deemed them fags. Of course, most of them were Japanese/Korean but who can tell the difference unless they're Asian? The point is... I think it is giving Asian guys a bad name in general. I was eating lunch and this fag walked by with a purse and several white guys were laughing their asses off, obviously at the effeminate appearance of the guy. First of all, the god damn guy dressed like a fag in the first place (V cut shirt, skinny jeans), but to top it off, he had a GOD DAMN PURSE. I cannot stress this enough. What the hell is wrong with these people? What the hell happened to social norms?

Japanese people continue to reshape the norm...

According to the article, everyone in Japan has these things. It disgusts me. Thankfully in America, the land of homophobics, this sort of retarded trend will never take over. Just because a trend is going on in Japan, people conform to it. Do they even stop to think how stupid they look?

And whats up with girls liking this sort of crap anyway? A few of my Asian female friends were watching some videos on Youtube and they were squealing at some really girly guys...

Anyway the point is, I think this kinda stuff is mad retarded, go conservatives, down with new weird stuff.

I have issues

Some people say the first step in solving a problem is to admit you have a problem. Well here it is! I have anger management issues. I guess it's a trait I got from my dad, to have a short temper. It's a really bad characteristic to have... I get frustrated too easily and it will most likely cause my downfall.

I have a tendency to snap in a heart beat and that kind of impulsive nature is not good to have. There is no question that stress and frustration is the source of my Bruxism. I really need to change this way of life and stop being so angry for trivial matters...

Interconnected subjects

Learning Macro and Sociology together somewhat sparked some thoughts. According to my Macro Prof., the economy is in the biggest recession ever. Laissez Faire economics wasn't helping the economy during the Great Depression and the government had to get involved to save it. According to the words of Karl Marx, he said that capitalism would eventually crumble because it was a flawed system, that Laissez Faire economics would fail. The government had to step in and pretty much save capitalism from dying, and they are doing the same thing right now. With all of these bailouts... the government is dumping trillions into the market trying to ease the economic crisis with our tax payers' money. This is what Marx predicted, that the bourgeoisie exploit the working class.

Well what the hell am I trying to say anyway? The point is, the economy is in the shit right now. No one knows how to fix our current economic problem because it has never happened before. People aren't spending their money like they used to. People are afraid to spend money. The current unemployment rate is above 7%. The stock market has been down for more than 45% since last summer. After reading what Marx had to say, some of the things he predicted sounds reasonable, but it is far too idealistic to ever come true. I wonder how our economy will stand in the future, will it really crumble?

Computer trouble continued

It has been two days since I dropped my desktop at the Ave U place (chinese people) for repairs. They claimed they can fix anything and should be done on Sunday. It wasnt done until today. Secondly, they charge $75 to wipe out viruses. They claimed they did get rid of the virus, but explorer.exe was corrupt and no longer function properly. So they told me they have to reformat the damn thing. So they asked me if I wanted to backup any information on my computer. Of course I wanted to back stuff up... that was the whole point of trying to get rid of the virus instead of reformatting the whole thing... hell I coulda done it myself had I known these incompetent jackasses were just going to reformat it in the end. So the story is, I wasted $75 and two days on something I could've done myself. How wonderful is that...

Yearbook

I was pretty bored a while ago... my desktop is still in the tech shop for repair. I decided to dig up my yearbook and take a careful look at it once again. Our yearbook is really lacking in comparison to some of the other schools'. I dont think I have any right to complain about it because I wasnt part of designing the thing (although if I was, it wouldnt be so bad). But looking at it made me kind of sad because I wasnt involved enough in the school. There were a billion clubs I never heard of that had group pictures... lol Mr. Hero was in like five of them.

Midwood's yearbook is pretty bad ... the cover looks like it was drawn by some fifth grader, the picture that supposed to have everyone ... didnt have everyone, the portraits were horrible. There was a section in which close friends can pay $100 to have their very own page(s) in the yearbook. I know my friends were supposed to get two pages but the school ripped them off and gave them only half a page... so half of them were cut out.

And lastly some of the comments left by my peers were somewhat lame. Most people didnt know what to say so they wrote something short and poorly thought out. Only those who were really close to me wrote something meaningful. I tried my best to write something personal for everyone who I wrote in.

I wrote a 7 page essay on how much I hate SBU

Yeah that's right. I was so pissed off at the school I spent all day writing on how much I hate SBU. The research paper was quite subjective because I am gearing towards the bad things of the school, so don't expect to get both sides from me. But I really couldn't find too much good things about the school anyway.

AP US History

Why the hell would anyone take AP American History? Its the stupidest class alive... who the hell is going to major in history? Why would anyone take this class anyway? Its a complete waste of time and I deeply regret taking this worthless class...

Utterly trash class, consumes your life and kills you piece by piece.

Im down by 2 outlines that I havent done thats going to be due tomorrow LoL ... an essay on monday... and some court activity ...
