I simply dispise the school bathroom policy. Therefore, it made me write an article, a complaining article. Hopefully it gets published this month in the December edition.

Unlock the Bathrooms

Have you ever needed to use the bathroom and walked away in frustration because the bathroom was locked? Have you ever wondered why the bathrooms are always locked ten minutes before and ten minutes after the bell?

Rules are made to provide guidelines for actions. However, when rules are and cause inconveniences for people who have to follow them, they should be revised. Back when I was a freshman, the bathrooms were not locked in between periods. According to the dean, a new rule was implemented in 2006 that made bathrooms unavailable the first ten minutes before and ten minutes after the bell.

“The current rule is too much of an inconvenience for us because most of our teachers tell us to go before coming to class and how can we do that if the bathroom is locked?,” said Lanson Wong ’08.

Freshmen and sophomores have lunch periods. Juniors and seniors generally do not have a lunch period for them to use the bathroom. For many students, it is difficult to find spare time to go and use the bathroom. Students who want to use the bathroom after their last class of the day find themselves waiting a good ten minutes before being able to use the bathroom. Another reason why people don’t want to go during the class is because they might miss important information in class.

“It’s stupid when I have a double period class and can’t go to the bathroom during the breaks,” said David Chen ’08.

“I find it ridiculous that we have to wait ten minutes into the period in order to use the bathroom, especially if it's your last class,” said Jennifer Wong ’08.

In addition to causing inconveniences to students, teachers don’t like it either. Many teachers dislike it when students ask to leave the room and some of teachers have limits on how many people can go in that particular period.

When questioned as to why this rule was made, Assistant Principal Security Richard Franzese replied that the rule was made for security reasons.

“Locking the bathrooms ten minutes before and after the bell and during passing improve traffic in the halls. Students tend to go to the bathroom during passing and thus are late to class. By closing the bathrooms during this time interval, the hallways clear up much faster and fewer students are late to class. It also prevents students from cutting by hanging out in the bathrooms. Lastly, the bathrooms are kept in better condition with extra time given to the custodians to work with,” said Mr. Franzese.

“There are exceptions to everything. If there are ever any emergencies or medical needs, the bathrooms will be opened. The current policy is working out fine. Hallway traffic improved significantly ever since the new policy. There will be no plans to change the policy anytime soon. In response to student inconveniences, we put safety and security reasons above personal reasons,” said Mr. Franzese.

Even though the bathroom policy has good intentions, it is very unpopular. Many students simply do not understand why the policy exists. I for one, will never understand why someone would want to hang out in the bathroom. Stating that closing the bathrooms to prevent cutting just isn’t a justifiable reason to close them. If students want to cut class, they are going to cut class regardless. Weighing the benefits against discontent, the Midwood staff will hopefully amend the current policy with consideration to both the convenience and the well being of the student.

scholarship denied

Today I was very unhappy/sad/disappointed. The top ranked 28 kids of ’08 all got invited to this meeting where they get to get free money. Antonio and Annie told me about the meeting. Apparently the top ranked 28 kids all got scholarships ranging from $500 to $1500 dollars. I was very unhappy. Ms. Kramer’s grade destroyed my average last term and caused me to plummet 5 ranks. If I had creative writing, I am certain that I would have gotten a 97 at least. The 80 really brought me down and to think of it, the entire last term was hideous. Yesterday we got our report cards and I had a 101 average. I got 90 in English (Miccio), 98 in calculus (Widom), 98 in Government (Gold), 91 in AP Statistics (Caldwell), and 100 in Physics C (Kennard). It’s a shame that this semester has no impact on your ranking because they are already finalized.

Being the sharp observant I am, here is something I find interesting regarding human behavior:

Okay so heres what I am driving at:
Do you ever notice how the seats are filled up? From what I can see, most of the time (80%) the seats get filled up in this order: C A B (not counting the window seats).

Now why the hell does this happen? It is human nature. Seat C, is by far the most popular seat on the train. Why is that? For one, it is next to the railing. Somehow I think the railing creates some sense of security. Next, seat A is taken. This is human nature as well. Obviously if there is 2 seats left, you would assume the seat that is not next to the other person. Strangers generally would not want to sit next to each other unless absolutely necessary. The last seat is by far the worse seat there. You have to sit inbetween two other people, and sometimes, two fat people. It is a really uncomfortable position to be in, and I wouldnt take it unless I'm dying.

Lastly, theres this phenomenon on the train also. When A B C seats are filled; and when either A or C gets up, person B will ALWAYS, I MEAN ALWAYS (99.99999%) TAKE THE SEAT OF THE PERSON WHO GOT UP.

Midwood Blood Drive

So today was the Blood Drive at midwood. Ms Miccio convinced me, and many others to go donate blood. Her bribe was a free 100 on a quiz added to the grade. But thats how the point, I went partly for that and also for helping people. My extra blood might save someones life.

So I went on the line after 7th period and it took 2 periods to get done. The process was pretty slow, I wasnt surprised though. People work so slow and take their time. They fed us some snacks and water and I got a free t-shirt. It was a nice experience I suppose.

cleaned my keyboard

3. clean/wipe the board
4. dry each key
5. try to put them back in their respective positions

it was a pain in the ass, i dont recomend ever cleaning your keyboard unless u have to. maybe once every 2 years is ok

also, it was quite funny comunicating without a keyboard. i had to copy and paste each letter individually which took forever, and sometimes i just revert to using simlies.

As the critics say... I felt the film was just a bunch of things that happened put together.. they were fighting then they somehow went to france, and then some more stuff happened.

Finally got through the first week of college now program. My 2 cents: the lunch line is so fucking stupid, they serve food so damn slow, and then there’s the stupid Tae class. According to this email I got from Baruch, they saying I haven’t attended the Tae class all week. Now that’s just bullshit and they said they would be kicking me out if I “cut” any more classes. I am so sore from that class. I get stuck with this big guy as a partner so I am getting fucked up. My shoulders, arms, wrists, quads, hamstrings, back, sides are all sore. My class also had a test on day 4. I guess it wasn’t that bad, I should have studied more though.

Today we received our AP scores. I got a 4 on the US history and 3 on the physics B.

Ok wtf, this is bullshit. How the fuck did I get a 75 in english class? I passed all her tests in the third marking period with 80s and did all of her damn homework, and participated. HOly shit... 75. Whats even worse is that she isn't even in school today, so I couldnt ask her the reason for this disgusting grade. I hope she made a mistake and is going to change it next year, because I won't stand for this. Honestly, this grade ruined my chances of retaining my rank.

Orientation today, and also gave out what classes we got into. Somehow, I didnt get into volleyball, which is complete bullshit because I put it as my first choice. They gave me TaiKwanDo for some reason. Whatever... Also, it takes freaking 1 hour to get there, so every day I'll be spending 2 hours on the train, joy... mondays to thursdays

Damn the test was so fucking hard. I didnt know anything. I forgot all 10 pages of formulas we got. 10 freaking pages, not even all of the equations are there. I didnt memorize the optics, heat, electicity&magnetism, and a whole lot of other stuff. Little things here and there cost me the test.

2007 - Agriculture in 1890s

Boy was I wrong... LoL

Yesterday’s AP US History test was like the best test I could’ve hoped for. The multiple choice was relatively easy, I don’t think I got more than 20 of them wrong (out of 80). The DBQ was on agriculture and farmers during the 1865-1900 period. I knew a lot on that area so it wasn’t a problem. Part B was a choice between the Great Awakening and rebellions. I didn’t know much on either subject and ended up doing the rebellion essay. The Part C was either Theodore Roosevelt’s policies or a bunch of presidents in the 60s-80s. I am an expert in Theodore Roosevelt’s policies. Overall, the test was a success. I think I got a 4 or 5.

WTF is this shit. Reading this retarded ass book called La Dama Del Alba. We are about halfway done and now I find out something shocking (to me). No wonder people who suck ass in spanish are doing so well in interpreting this fucking book. Why am I so ignorant and stupid? Today I found out that theres a whole English translation to the book. Holy shit, even the questions on the fucking test the teacher gives are exactly from the internet. Are you fucking serious? Fuck yeah I am. For two tests, I have not taken advantage of this. No wonder why people getting fucking high ass grades when I’m just bombing and working my ass off to know what the fuck is going on.

Dad with his stupid obsession with cameras... he thinks he’s all that with his rare summons as a photographer. So he decided to not look like a newbie with our “old” digital camera and bought a “professional” digital camera. One that he has no fucking knowledge how to operate. Then he gets all pissed when he doesn’t know how to read the damn instructions manual and gets fucking pissed and yells at me for not reading all 200 pages of shit. Then he keeps yelling and can’t sleep. Then he blames me for not reading and teaching him how to use his fancy camera. Did I mention it cost him 1k for the body part, $300 for the flash (sold separately) and then he wants to by the lens or whatever, which is sold separately for another $800 bucks. Holy shit … even my god damn computer he wouldn’t even spend more than $500 on and then he’s ready to spend 2k on some stupid ass camera that he has no idea how to use just to impress some goons. 1/2 days are very depressing to me. you see everyone in their groups of friends and stuff, and then theres me, isolated from people. things like that make me think and whenever i think too much i feel sorry for myself. i really need to go and socialize more .

3/22/07- The junior orientation was yesterday. The college counselors talked all period about how to apply for colleges, about scholarships, and all the process. It seems like such a big hassle, I’m stressed out as hell. So many documents to fill out and stuff just keep coming and coming. So today I was in physics and I am completely lost. That’s what happens when you miss one period of physics. You become in the lost and found section, only you won’t be found. What the hell is an equi-potential thingy? What the hell is electric field?

Report cards today, and a funny new system for the cafeteria. We got this “dining hall” in the school (cafeteria) and now we get our very own “pin numbers” so that we don’t have to pay jack squat. The elimination of cash and payment but an addition of a “kiosk.” I gotta check that out.

I also got into Arista and Archon but I only applied to Arista. Guess they wanted me so badly they gave me both haha.

I’m in a dilemma here. I’m not really sure what I want to take for next year. Physics C is a calculus course along with hard ass physics. Psychology is single period as opposed to Physics C, but it’s an outlining course. Do I want to take a double period class of hard ass math or do I want a single period of outlining chapters in a book? Also for math, do I want Calculus AB or BC? Or Statistics? Too many decisions.

Elite homeroom is pretty cool, you get treated like Gold so its pretty sweet. We get to do our programs first and our priority goes above the others so GG. We get this special pass for tomorrow to get to this junior orientation 8-9. The guidance counselors try to get to know every one of us to help with our college selections. Also, you can call me #33 because that’s my overall ranking in the juniors.

daily weird stuff

Its freaking 40-50 degrees today, kinda warm for this time of the year. Whats weird is that you see this guy/girl (i cant tell if its a girl or guy lawl) wearing shorts+sweater when the rest of us are wearing puffy jackets. I LoLed at the site because this tomboy has long hair and acts like a man and wears shorts while wearing a god damn sweater.

Also, he tried to draft some more students from the physics B class to the physics C class for next year, since all the seniors will graduate and only us juniors have the ability to take C class. i doubt anyone will take it tho. gotta be outta my mind to take that course, the most challenging in the school.

Also saw a grandma taking care of a baby on the train. The site made me think alot of things, like what the hell is gonna happen when shes gonna get off the train and push the carage down the stairs?? how can she do that byherself? tsk tsk, adults these days, leaving their kids to be taken care of by their parents. think of the old people man...

So yesterday we got our transcripts, green programs, and some other junk in homeroom. My cumulative average up to now is 95.71. I guess that’s ok, but seeing everyone else’s 97-99s, I feel like the weakest link. Anyhow, I failed the last English vocabulary test with a 61 because I couldn’t memorize 120 words the night before. Kramer told us she doesn’t curve grades and what ever you get is what you get. No extra credit is given either. I also feel so stupid in math, because the teacher doesn’t explain very well. Plus, I’m always late to her stupid class because the bus is always late and crowded with other people who start 2^nd. Looks like my grades this semester are gonna go for a dive off the building because I’m doing so poorly.

FROM 1 OUTLINE A WEEK TO 2 OUTLINES A WEEK, THATS 40-50 PAGES A WEEK LMAO, ON TOP OF THAT WE GOT OTHER STUFF LIKE DBQS AND ESSAYS AND ALL THAT OTHER TRASH ROFL I HATE THIS CLASS SO MUCH ITS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME

In other news, i am behind by 1 outline, and not catching up, and we are at chapter 23 atm, so 20 more chapters in 2 months to outline, weeeee joy.

English class sucks - teaching a regular english class in an AP style sucks.

Math - RoFL i havent done so bad in math since i was born, dont know wtf im doing at all

Spanish - Rofl i used to be good in spanish until Lazarus erased it from my brain, now im strugglin like a worm

Physics - LoL it makes less sense as i keep learning it in a faster pace

My dad's work place is being moved to Flushing in Queens. Thats going to suck majorly.. a trip to work will take 1.5 hours each day, and 1.5 hours coming back from work. In the morning, he would have to wake up as early as I do, and thats not very convienent.

Sigh... we mihht have to move our apartment from Brooklyn to Queens... thats going to suck even more.

The Price of Greed - Truely an epic series. I started watching this around epsode 10, and it caught me with its incredible plot. Its frightening what human beings are capable of doing, and how money is the sole problem of it all...

The plot was 5/5, the actors were really good, this series deserves a praise.

Life

Life is dull, especially if you have no goals in life, no inspiration, so very empty.

However, after overlooking the things I have, Ive found out that what I really want isnt want I wanted at all. The person whos really important to me was overlooked, and shes been right there in my face. I feel like an idiot all this time, and now I know, truely, what I really want.

new years day

2/19/07 - New Years Day (Lunar) ... we all woke up early and went to David's house. All the relatives from Philadelphia came over too, and we took a looooooooooong ass ride to flushing to this chinese buffet. the long ride didnt help my carsickness at all, and by the time we got there, i felt too sick to eat too much lol

New Year

Next week we got a week off for president’s week. Good thing we have off… fucking mayor and the city is full of racist sand bags… the Chinese New year is fucking ignored every year. We dont get a day off but all these other stupid days we get off for no reason. These asses are so racist it’s not even funny.

2/16/07- A lot happened today. It was a regular morning like usual, I got to the Sheepshead station at 7 AM. I thought to myself hey what luck! Both the B and Q were stationary on the tracks; however I didn’t know why they wouldn’t go. So I listened to the conductor yap about some stuff that I had no idea what it was. I thought about popping off the train station and running for the bus 10 blocks away so I wouldn’t be late. But I thought, I’d still be late for my math test, so it wasn’t worth the effort. So after some more listening, I found out that the tracks at Kings Highway were out of power or something. The trains couldn’t go across or something like that. It was pretty hectic, people were all pushing and stuff when the B train was going to go for New Quirk. So I waited for about 20 minutes and it was fucking freezing. And then we had to change back to local Q at New Quirk because the Q line was jammed and had no power or something. I ended up being late for 2^nd period and I missed my math test.

Later in the day, I heard that some guy fell into the tracks last night at Kings Highway. So the real reason was because some guy got ran over by the Q train yesterday. I heard the person died and his blood splattered all over the place, and there were cops and meds cleaning up the scene. I guess something else caused today’s technical difficulties but… the thought that someone got ran over by the train is absolutely disgusting…

Day dreaming

Oh man, I feel so much better these days... I find myself day dreaming 10x more than I used to, if you see me making a fool outta myself by laughing at nothing, then Im day dreaming =]

OMG dad bought a 40 dollars worth of fucking mushrooms. Stupid waste of money, all he can think about is how much money he saved because they were 14 bucks a pound and reduced to 3 or something. Holy shit… so many mushrooms we aren’t going to finish consuming that shit until I’m 35 LoL.

LoL debates are funny things in class. the 2 groups during AP US history got pretty involved in the discussion, their discussion turned into a very heated fight, where order in the court was lost. the debate was on whether or not amercians were justified to remove the native americans. it was a funny site to watch, and i had a good laugh out of that. the fight was gettin tense, i wanted to yell out "jerry! jerry! jerry!" lawl

Why the hell would anyone take AP American History? Its the stupidest class alive... who the hell is going to major in history? Why would anyone take this class anyway? Its a complete waste of time and I deeply regret taking this worthless class...
